CIFRE contracts or contracts co-financed by a partner

It is possible to do a doctorate with a socio-economic partner. There are actually several schemes.

ANRT’s CIFRE (Industrial Conventions for Training through Research) grants

They allow doctoral students to prepare their doctorate in a company by carrying out a research and development program in conjunction with a university laboratory.

The company receives a flat-rate annual grant of 14,000 euros and pays a minimum gross annual salary of 23,484 euros (1,957 euros / month) to the doctoral student.

An employment contract, permanent or with a three-year fixed duration, is concluded between the company and the doctoral student.

The collaboration between the partner and the University of Toulon must be enacted through a two-party three-year partnership agreement which must be signed within 6 months after the agreement between the ANRT and the company has been signed. This partnership agreement with the University of Toulon will specify the financial and technical terms of the collaboration. Its details must therefore be subjected to prior negotiations between the partner and the university before any application is submitted to the ANRT.

Funding by a socio-economic partner

A private or public partner can choose to fund a thesis grant in full or in part without going through the CIFRE scheme. In the case of a co-financing, the University of Toulon supplements, with its own funds, the financing of the thesis grant. In such a situation, the doctoral student is recruited by the University of Toulon for a period of 3 years.
